The improvisation tracks on the A Day ín Benedict CD were recorded at the beginning of October 1997 in two chapels in the Plasy Monastery and it started as a personal encounter earlier in 1996. Rajesh Mehta’s "Ragas for trumpet" and improvisations with Vojtěch and Irena Havel. Recorded over the course of one day, are the destillations of three years of the trumpetist musical experiments within the Saint Benedict chapel. The music pieces were created specifically to the the chapel´s acoustic qualities into full play.

Rajesh Mehta is an award-winning Indian-American trumpet innovator, composer/artist, and educational technology consultant who has innovated several hybrid trumpets including the “DRUMPET” in Amsterdam and the microtonal “NAGA PHOENIX TRUMPET” in Singapore. Mehta graduated from M.I.T. in Humanities and
Engineering (with studies at U.C. Berkeley). As a Senior Creative Arts Fellow of the American Institute of Indian Studies, he founded the innovative music production platform "ORKA-M" in Chennai,
which was greatly influenced by his research on and musical collaboration with South Indian temple musicians.
